Caernarfon Castle

HISTORY
Bodelwyddan Castle was built in the 1830s, although the battlements and towers were added in 1886. It was built for the Williams family who lived there until 1920, after which time the estate was turned into a girls school.

In 1982 the Castle was purchased by Clwyd County Council who restored the Williams Hall and opened it as a museum housing the Victorian Collection of The National Portrait Gallery.
